![]() ![]() We hope this is accomplished by the end of the year (2019) Level 0 spells are pretty sucky but you'll get better ones later. It is with sad news the core team members of the PCGen BoD are stepping down (or handing off the reins to any new blood that wish to take up the challenge).Īs of the release of the Pathfinder 2 datasets for 6.08.00 RC7, Andrew Maitland, the Data Lead (the core driving and unifying member of the BoD) will be ceasing any ongoing upkeep and direct involvement with the project. For spells you can know how to cast 4 level 0 spells and can cast two of them a day. As a human with 16 in you start with 40 of the damn things and you can assign them to the various skills (Diplomacy, Tumble, Move Silently, etc. Other stuff you've got to do (yay 3.5ed chargen!): Grapple checks should be at +1 unless I'm forgetting something. However I'm a bit confused about how you got the 19, that shouldn't be possible unless I'm misreading how you got those numbers. You got the "14, 17, 19, 12, 13, 16" by rolling 4d6, dropping the lowest one and adding up the other three, right? That's pretty standard. You rolled 14, 17, 19, 12, 13, 16 for your ability scores. ![]() For example the modifier for an 18 is +4 and a 12 is +1.Ībility score: the actual number of your ability (strength, intelligence, etc.). You don't roll for them, you get them at each level.Ībility modifiers: the number that you add or subtract from your dice roll depending on how high or low your ability score. Skill points: stuff you put into Jump, Diplomacy, Tumble etc. You've gotten some terms mixed up, let me help straighten them out: You may then use this money to purchase gear.Īaaah, 3.5ed chargen, oh the memories It is confusing and new players really do need people to walk them through it.įirst of all download this: chargen program, it'll make figuring out the various numbers a LOT easier. Starting Gear: The start of the combat chapter should tell you how much money you start with. You get a certain number of spells known, and then you just pick from the list. Starting Spells: This should be included in the description of the Bard class. This is typically 1d20 + your Base Attack Bonus + your Strength modifier. Grapple Resistance: In D&D 3.5, grappling consists of opposed checks. Assuming this is true, then your ability scores look properly focused on the right areas. Otherwise I don't really know which game you're actually playing. I think you mean you're playing D&D 3.5, which is based on the D20 System. A good DM can adjust the adventure to take this into account. Even if this could end up with a powerful character, that doesn't need to be a problem. However, the one I'm familiar with requires you to drop the lowest of the four dice, so that the final range will be in the 3 to 18 range. The 4d6 method is a traditional one that goes back decades. Hello, welcome to the forum and the hobby! Sorry for such a long first post, just feeling very overwhelmed at the moment with this. Does this look correct?Īlso, how do I figure out my grapple resistance, starting spells and starting gear? I've assigned the points as Str 13, Dex 17, Con 14, Int 16, Wis 12, and Cha 19. Anyway, this seems to make for some pretty OP level 1 chars if one has good luck rolling, no? My rolls are as follows: 14, 17, 19, 12, 13, 16 And I was thinking I'd be a ranged (short bow + caster/singing) Human Bard. I'm planning on playing a Bard, and the way she wants us to assign skill points is by rolling 4d6 6 times, and using those 6 rolls to place into our ability modifiers (strange to me as I've always done the buy-in method while playing PC games). My brother is playing a Rogue and the DM has made a Ranger NPC to accompany us. The campaign is being made for my brother and I to experience D&D "tabletop' as opposed to just on a video game setting. She says that the campaign is to start at level 1, and is role-play heavy with some combat mixed in. The game's DM is going to be using Roll 20 as our means of interaction, and the game is based off of 3.5E. I've played a ton of D&D PC RPGs in the past, but I have 0 experience with tabletop, and honestly, it's a bit overwhelming. First timer here (to the board and to tabletop D&D), and I require assistance.
